Study Rooms

Law school is tough. Make it easier by studying with friends.


 Are you looking for a place to study? 

Try one of our nine Group Study Rooms or our Virtual Office Hour/Interview Space on your next visit to the library. Our study rooms offer a variety of features to help you and your colleagues work or study collaboratively. 

Who can use the study rooms? 

Our group study rooms are available to all current USF law school students faculty, and staff. Each room offers a variety of essential resources. Group study rooms can accommodate 2-8 people for up to two hours at a time and are equipped with large tables, whiteboards, power outlets, and big screen TVs suitable for screen sharing. Our Virtual Office Hour/ Interview space offers students a private and professional environment for virtual meetings. 

How To Book A Study Room

HOW TO BOOK A STUDY ROOM:

  1. Visit the USF Zief Law Library website.

  2. Scroll down and click the orange “Book A Study Room” button. 

  3. You will be taken to the booking website. Click the blue “Info” button for additional room information. 

  4. Select intended times/dates and submit

  5. Look for a confirmation email in your USFCA email inbox.

Students can book three days in advance on the booking website.

Printing: Requirements

The Zief Law Library has a printer located on each floor (three total). The main floor printer is located in Copy Room 104, located between the Circulation Desk and the Computer Lab (105) across from Open Reserve. The Second Floor printer is located past the lounge area in Copy Room 209. The Lower Level printer is located between the West-facing staircase and the restrooms. 


Please note: Before you print, you must meet the following requirements:  

1. Payment: 

  • Dons Dollars balance to cover the cost of the print/copy job OR 

  • USF FOAP(s) assigned to your USF ID OR

  • A FOAP Print/Copy card 

           AND

2. Student ID 

  • Downloaded as One Card to your electronic device (IOS or Android) OR

  • Physical Student ID Card 

AFTER you have confirmed your payment method and Wi-Fi connection, you may print to ANY of the USF printers. 

Printing From A Library Desktop

Students can print directly from one of the four desktop computers located on the Main Floor of Zief Law Library. These computers are hooked up to the printers.

  1. Use your USF username and password to log into the computer.

  2. Locate the document you would like to print using Gmail, Google Docs, Word, etc

  3. Print directly from the computer.

  4. Locate one of the three printers in the library.

  5. Tap your student ID card against the machine's reader and follow the instructions on the screen. Receive your print job. 

Printing From A Personal Device

If you want to print from a personal device, you must register your personal device on the MyLife Portal. First connect to the network USFConnect on your device.  Sign in to the MyLife Portal using your USF username and password. Your device must be approved by the university, so please allow 30 minutes to complete the process. Please see KB14904 or contact the ITS Help Desk if you need assistance with this process. 

Once your device has been registered and you gain access to USF Connect, choose one of the following three options:


Option #1: Web Browser (recommended) 

  1. Ensure you are connected to the correct Wi-Fi: USF Connect

  2. Visit the My Print Center website.

  3. Upload the file you wish to print. (Note: The file will be saved on this website. You do not need to select a "print" button.)

  4. Locate one of the three library printers. 

  5. Tap your student ID against the machine's reader and follow the instructions on the screen.

  6. Receive your print job. 


Option #2: Email (no print driver required)

Please note: It may take 20-30 minutes for the printer to receive your email. 

  1. Connect to the correct wifi: USF Connect.

  2. Locate the file you want to print. 

  3. Send the file to either email address:

    • For printing in black and white: printbw@usfca.edu 

    • For printing in color: printcolor@usfca.edu

  4. Locate one of the three library printers. 

  5. Tap your student ID against the machine's reader and follow the instructions on the screen.

  6. Receive your print job. 


Option #3: Installing Print Drivers To Personal Devices (Laptops)

  • Visit the Self-Service Print/Copy Program USF website for instructions. For assistance with print drivers, contact the ITS Help Desk at 415-422-6668 OR itshelp@usfca.edu. 

After selecting your printing method and the file you wish to print, follow the respective instructions. To retrieve your print job, locate a printer/scanner machine, located on all three floors of the Zief Law Library, and tap your student ID card against the machine's reader. Follow the instructions on the screen.

How To Print To The Lexis Printer

BEFORE PRINTING, Please Note: 

  • The Lexis Nexis Digital Library and Lexis+ are SEPARATE online resources. You can only print from Lexis+ to the Lexis printer. Printing from the Lexis Nexis Digital Library is NOT possible. 
  • Printing from the Lexis+ website is FREE. 
  • It isn't possible to print using a USB stick or through the library network.
  • If you have questions about printing, contact your Lexis representative. They are in charge of servicing the printer (including toner and paper), NOT library staff. 

HOW TO PRINT FROM THE LEXISNEXIS PRINTER:

  1. Log in to Lexis+ websiteTo access the Lexis+ website, students will need the assigned registration information from their Legal Research, Writing, & Analysis (LRWA) professors. Please contact your LRWA professor with questions about registration information
  2. Locate the document you would like to print from the Lexis website. 
  3. Locate the "printer" icon. You will then be able to view printing settings. 

  4. Select the "LexisNexis Printer." 
  5. Hit "Print."
  6. Retrieve your print job from the Lexis printer located in the Zief Library first floor copy/scanner room (Z104). Your document will go to the labeled Lexis Printer, NOT the print/copy machine. You do not need to tap your student ID card.
