Doncore and Ignacio: What's the Difference?
Doncore is a way to search USF’s libraries' resources, using a single keyword search box. Other features include a tag cloud, community tagging and images of selected library materials. Doncore searches the library catalog, some full text databases, digital collections and Link Plus.
Doncore enhances, but does not replace Ignacio, the traditional library catalog. Use Ignacio's Advanced Searach option for searches where you want to find a specific author, title, or combinations of searches.
Accessing Doncore and Ignacio
Connect to Doncore:
- Begin your search via the green "Search Catalog" box in the upper left corner of the Zief Library homepage, as shown below:
- This will take you to the search result page.
Connect to Ignacio in one of two ways:
- You can get there directly by going to http://ignacio.usfca.edu/, or
- Begin a Doncore search via the green "Search Catalog" box in the upper left corner of the Zief Library homepage, as shown above. This will bring you to your results page with the search box at the top of the page (you will still be in Doncore). Under the search box, click "Classic Catalog." This will bring you to Ignacio.
Finding the Items in the Library
Ignacio and Doncore list the holdings of both Gleeson and Zief libraries, so pay particular attention to the location phrases that accompany call numbers. If the phrase doesn't begin with "LAW," the item is not in the law library's collection. Most items available at Gleeson Library contain the word "Gleeson" in the location phrase.
