Introduction to Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg Law  

The law library subscribes to Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg Law. We currently have access to both the older "classic" interfaces on Lexis and Westlaw and to the new interfaces, WestlawNext and Lexis Advance. As the largest and most powerful legal research databases, Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg Law have a prominent place among the law library's online research resources.

Lexis and Westlaw both offer online tutorials for law students who want to practice their searching skills:

CALI, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing online learning resources to law students, has lots of tutorials that can help you brush up on your online searching skills.  If you need a CALI student registration code, contact the law library's research librarians.

Access to Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg Law

USF School of Law Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg Law accounts are available only to USF law faculty, law staff, and currently-enrolled USF law students. 

Researchers who visit the law library may use our WestlawNext alumni and bar patron research terminal.  This version of WestlawNext offers access to federal and California case law, statutes, and regulations, KeyCite, and also offers access to some California practice guides and treatises.  Access to WestlawNext for USF Law alumni and bar members is limited to using the WestlawNext terminal located within the law library; remote use or subscriptions are not available. For information about free access to legal research resources, see our research guide, "Free Legal Research Sites."
